Opening Scene
Location- ???
A notebook (or object) is seen laying on a table. Hand is seen grabbing the notebook. The camera zooms out a a person is seen holding the notebook. It appears that the notebook must belong to this person. They pull out a pen/pencil and walk out of the shot.
Scene 1
Location- IUSB campus bench outside
The person is seen sitting on a bench on either side, so there is enough room for two people to sit. However, they are all alone. They are seen holding the notebook into their lap drawing into it. Occasionally, they look around to their surroundings. Also, at one point they look to their side at the empty seat on the bench. The camera can zoom into this shot of the empty bench. The shot goes back to the person as they turn back to the notebook and continue to draw.
*During this time a flashback occurs to the same location, however the main character is sitting with his friend talking…
Scene 2
Location- Playground swing set.
Again the main character is seen sitting on a swing by himself. He continues to draw into his sketchbook. The swing next to him is clearly in shot, empty. And just as the previous scene, a flashback occurs back to him and his friend talking yet again. On another day about his birthday.
Scene 3
Location- IUSB river crossing
Yet again the main character is seen standing on the bridge over a river gazing at the view, while still sketching into his notebook, trying to finish his drawing. The camera shows various shots of the water and sky to help set the tone. And for one last time there is a flashback to yet again the character and his friend standing on the bridge, having a conversation about his birthday present.
Scene 4
Location- Cemetery
From a distance there is a wide shot of a cemetery as the main character enters. The camera slowly pans around and follows him and he walks through the cemetery. After a short walk, he walks up to a gravestone (his friend). He then pulls out his notebook from his bag and kneels down to the gravestone. He then pulls the page out of the book and places it on the gravestone. Uttering the final words of the film “sorry it took me so long.” And the scene cuts to black and credits roll.
